There is a great demand and an increased focus for User Interface and User Experience Design in the tech industry to produce the best products and experiences for users.

User experience (UX) is the interaction and experience users have with a company's products and services and User interface (UI) is the specific asset users interact with. For example, UI can deal with traditional concepts like visual design elements such as colors and typography.

UI/UX design has emerged to become a science all its own, and to remain competitive, companies need to stay on top of trends.

To help, the members of Forbes Technology Council shared UI/UX trends your company could look out for. Here are five design trends as they emerge.

Deep Understanding Of Customers

It used to be that you could stand out with good design, but now it’s expected. Users have become more sophisticated, and their expectations have risen when it comes to user experience. The companies that invest in understanding their customers deeply will design better solutions and ultimately win more customers because of it. - Ryan Montgomery, ClickFunnels

Software Solutions For The Post-Covid-19 Era

The post-Covid-19 era will make changes in what we expect in any software solution. As we are all thinking about safety and soundness, social distancing in one way or another will be the new norm. The way we interact using virtual reality, 3D modeling and contactless, frictionless design will shape everyday life. - Magdiel Rodriguez, Alivi.

Clean And Focused Design

In a world with quick changes and new websites and apps coming up on a daily basis, the speed of consuming these apps and websites grew enormously. When consuming new sites and apps in a very short amount of time, UI/UX needs to be clean and focused on one to two main goals only. To keep the user from getting lost, do not put too many different things (colors, graphics, etc.) into one screen. - Florian Otte, Keller Sports GmbH.

‘LEAD’ Experiences

Great experiences exhibit four qualities we call “LEAD.” They’re Light (fast, quick, simple); Accessible (inclusive, relevant); Ethical (trustworthy); and “Dataful” (instrumented with telemetry and adaptive). When we get these four qualities right, the experience delights and succeeds, delivering the business and customer value we strive for. These are not new, but it’s surprising how many experiences need to work on one or more of these quality dimensions. - Sheldon Monteiro, Publicis Sapient.

AI-Driven UI

I believe the continuing trend will be AI driving the UI. However, in many applications, the AI may need to be carefully designed to respect privacy and limit the collection and use of personal data. - Serafim Batzoglou, insitro
