The Makers Assemble Pitch Summit came off yesterday at Ghana Tech Lab (GTL) in Accra.

A total of 20 participants participated in the pitching process, where they pitched critical Personal Protective Equipment for COVID-19.

Participants were split into six groups to put their innovative ideas together to be pitched and is under the auspices of the Makers Assemble programme being put together by the company.

In the presence of judges, ecosystem personnel and partners, the participants presented five innovations namely; Ventilator, respirator, contactless thermometer, face shield/mask strap, and contactless hand washing machine

According to Gideon Mensah, Facilitator of the Makers Assemble, “the purpose of the summit was to orient participants on the problem-solution effect of the prototypes built and how they worked in the wake of the COVID-19 pandemic”.

The Facilitator indicated that the summit forms part of the Makers Assemble, a collaborative effort of young innovators ready to combat the Coronavirus with their ideas and innovations.

Speaking to a participant, he stated that his team built the ambu bag ventilator, which was portable, affordable and easy to use.

The invention is expected to help doctors resuscitate patients by pumping air into their lungs with just one key twist, it is automated.

The innovators are expected to return for mass production with the winners getting a ready market and support for their business.
