Nigeria’s Jise, a food-only delivery platform, has announced it has secured $100,000 as angel funds from Europe and Africa.

Jise obtained the fund from notable investors, including Backroom Capital, Nigeria, Winston Capital, Ireland, and a few angel investors, including Jonny Enagwolor, Co-Founder Treepz Inc.

Jise was launched in 2020 by four co-founders, including Marvelous Gbenro as CEO, Tokurah Majid as VP Growth & Operations, Ibukun Olasupo as VP Customer Engagement, and Jeremy Osazuwa Agbonze, VP Technology.

The four founders built Jise due to the inadequacies and problems caused by multi-category-focused delivery partners, which often results in unfulfilled or late food deliveries, leading to disappointment that invariably threatens the brand integrity of most local restaurants.

A solution was created by building a shared logistics platform that enables restaurants to effectively deliver their meals in the fastest possible time, leveraging clusters of independent delivery personnel while simultaneously enabling growth for restaurants via a connected marketplace integrated solution.

Since then, the startup has leveraged the opportunity to offer a food delivery platform that provides swift and cost-friendly delivery services in Nigeria, starting with Lagos.

“Jise has gone live by signing up more than 40 restaurant menus on their platform first within the Lekki Phase 1 axis of Lagos.

“We hope to provide meals within 25 minutes to customers in this axis then gradually expand our community-based model starting with bicycle runners across Lagos in preparation for the holiday season.”

Commenting about the deal, Leonard Lynch, an investor at Winston Capital, said, “At Winston Capital, we are always looking for the best teams to invest in, and at Jise, we see it as an excellent opportunity to invest in a great team. We are delighted to continue to support the start-up ecosystem in Nigeria with our second investment on the continent.

The Jise app is available for download on IOS and Google Playstore.
