Cat Phones has introduced its latest phone known as CatS42, in South Africa.
Cat Phones is a manufacturer of tough, durable smartphones that are water, dust and drop proof.
It operates under the license of construction equipment manufacturer, Caterpillar Incorporated.
According to Cat, the new phone is a hygienic solution against COVID-19. Unlike other phones that can only be disinfected with isopropyl alcohol and wipes, the CatS24 can be thoroughly scrubbed with hot water and soap repeatedly.
It can also withstand exposure to bleach and detergents when being washed. Additionally, it is dust, humidity, salt, and shock resistant.
CatS24 has the military-grade MIL SPEC 810H rating which means it can withstand temperatures between -30°C to 75°C for up to 30min.
With its thick Corning Gorilla Glass 5 housed in a rubberised TPU back-plate, Cat says the phone does not need additional casing.
Other specs include a 4200mAh battery, 3GB of RAM, and a 13MP camera. It also features the Android 10 operating system, with a guaranteed update to Android 11
The phone can be purchased on prepaid for an amount of R7 899. Customers can also choose from plans starting at R449 per month on contract.
