Merchant Capital, an alternative provider of working capital for South Africa’s retail industry, has won the title as the best small business in this year’s Fintech Awards.

The Fintech Awards is an awards organization that recognizes outstanding digital innovations and technology-enabled business models across the fintech market.

Merchant Capital emerged winner of the sub-category of Small Business Funding out of five nominated companies.

Dov Girnun, founder and Chief Executive Officer of Merchant Capital (CEO) expressed his pleasure at the recognition of his company’s effort to provide financial solutions to South Africa’s small and medium-sized enterprises.

“We’re delighted to get global recognition for our business model and approach. Our founding principle was to support small businesses in good times and bad and to provide our clients with innovative solutions that evolve according to the changing business environment.

“ This principle has been tested to its limits during the COVID pandemic, so to receive this award is a significant endorsement,'' he stated.

Winners for the award were chosen by an independent judging panel, which conducted merit-orientated research and scrutinized information across a range of mediums.

Awardees had to demonstrate expertise within their field, dedication to client service, and a commitment to excellence and innovation in order to advance from nominee to category winner.

Merchant Capital has spent more than $87 million in supporting over 7,000 businesses since its launch in 2012.
