The Africa Makerspace Gathering (AMG), a signature program of the Africa Makerspace Network (AMN) is an annual event that seeks to set a dialogue for communication among makers and relevant industry stakeholders. It also facilitates inter-makerspaces collaboration on the African continent.

Careables Assistive Technology, served as a major partner on the 2nd Edition of the AMG, a two day event which was held in Accra.

Drawing participants from centres across Africa; Zimbabwe, Nigeria, Kenya, Cote D’Ivoire and Ghana, the host country. The AMG was held on the theme: ‘‘The Role of African Makerspaces in Addressing Covid-19’’.

Careables Assistive Technology, Kumasi took active part in the exhibition and workshop sessions on the AMG. The sessions focused on exhibiting a prototype of the first assistive technology; the white cane which is a product designed by students trained under the program.

Feedback on the white cane was gathered to serve as a roadmap that the community can tow to achieve its goals.

Careables Assistive Technology, Kumasi exists to grow a Ghanaian community focused on fostering the building and maintenance of local assistive technologies through capacity building.
