Francophone Transport Technology Platform Gozem Launches In Gabon

Transport technology platform Gozem has scaled to Gabon Libreville, after being operational in Togo and Benin for a while.

Launched in 2018, Gozem provides various on-demand transportation, delivery, and cashless payment solutions in one app to hundreds of thousands of users.

“We are very pleased to start our operations in Gabon with a simplified, safer, and more convenient cab booking solution. We are confident that our innovation in the Gabonese market will create real value for passengers and drivers. Very soon, we will expand our range of services in Gabon with delivery services,” said Cecilia Kouna, Deputy Country Director, Gozem Gabon.

Gozem is aiming to be the super app for Africa and is modeled after the success of Gojek and WeChat in Southeast Asia and China respectively. While it is only one of many super app candidates in Africa, geographic expansion is a signal of strong intent.

Gozem’s ride-hailing offering will work in Gabon like a standard app-enabled taxi booking service. Users download, sign up and input their destination to request rides. The driver accepts and the fare is calculated by distance. Users can pay in cash, with Airtel Money or Moov Money, or by credit card.

The company says it has more than 500,000 registered users who have completed more than 2.5 million trips since its launch in November 2018.

It now operates in 10 cities across Togo, Benin, and Gabon and will be present in three additional countries before the end of 2021.
