According to the founder of the institute, Miss Constance Swaniker, the competition will empower the startups to create innovative solutions to problems in the community, local industries, and the country through the application of knowledge and skills gained in their areas of study.

Amongst these startups is Volcano Technologies, a technology-powered company focused on combating waste in the country with its Green Incinerators. The green incinerator burns the waste and its air-pollution-infused system extracts harmful gases released into the air. The by-product of the waste burnt is used to produce cement.

In partnership with Mastercard Foundation, a total of $22,000 will be awarded to five startups. The winner will be awarded $7,000, the first runner-up will be given $5,000, and the second runner-up will be given $4,000. Consolation prizes of $3,000 will be given to the most promising idea and $ 3,000 to the best female enterprise.

In turn, the startups are to build a company that can place 15-20 employees on a payroll, and in three years, must have provided employability for 40,000 youths in Ghana.
