Green Skills Innovation Challenge 2021 Opened For Social Entrepreneurs
May. 13, 2021
British multinational banking organization HSBC, and non-profit organization Ashoka are calling for social entrepreneurs to participate in the Green Skills Innovation Challenge as part of their collaborative efforts.
The green skills innovation challenge is opened to social entrepreneurs who are equipping those most in need of opportunity with green skills needed to thrive, ensuring that the transition to a green economy benefits all.
According to the organizers, the green economy is emerging with solutions—in renewable energy, advancements in farming and agriculture, electric vehicles, sustainable forestry, and circular manufacturing processes, to name a few—but they also see a gap within the workforce. Without greens skill readiness, the transition to the green economy will be a slow one.
As such, they want people who will:
- Help those previously excluded from economic opportunity to gain the skills needed to find employment in the Green economy's growth sectors.
- Help communities currently entrenched in environmentally harmful jobs transition to green jobs.
- Find innovative ways to prepare young people to find careers in, and ultimately become leaders of, the green economy.
15 social entrepreneurs will be awarded a cash prize of $20,000 plus support and mentoring from HSBC and Ashoka to enable them to scale-up
