Ghana Tech Lab Presents 2000 Face Shields To Minister Of Communications

The Minister for Communications, Mrs. Ursula Owusu-Ekuful was presented with 2000 face shields by Ghana Tech Lab, an Information Communications Technology during her visit on Wednesday.

Her visit was to familiarize herself with operations of the company, which is making strides in technology and Ghana’s startup ecosystem.

Presenting the face shields, Managing Director of Ghana Tech Lab, Edward Akani stated that the donation was to support the government in providing PPEs for front line workers in the wake of the COVID-19 pandemic.

‘‘These face shields were produced by Ghana Tech Lab. We are presenting it to the Ministry to support the government's fight against COVID-19’’.

The face shields are being produced by the company in its bid to curb the COVID-19 pandemic.

Receiving the face shields the Minister, lauded the company for producing the shields and described the innovations of the company as innovative.

She was impressed with the touchless handwashing buckets produced during the SLI-COVID challenge and also the gender balance of staff of the company.

In addition, the Minister was presented her with a plaque designed with the country’s coat of arms and an engraved portrait produced by the Maker Space of Ghana Tech Lab.


Present during her working visit were Executive Directors of the company, Jorge Appiah and Nelson Madiba Amoo, staff and trainees.

Reacting to the ongoing Web development programme, the Minister promised to assist in the placement of 100 trainees in government institutions.
