Aug. 19, 2022, 12:24 p.m.
The Ghana Revenue Authority (GRA) will soon launch a mobile application to make the filing of taxes simpler for Ghanaians, according to Vice-President Dr. Mahamudu Bawumia. The development forms part of the government's plan to solve national problems with technology in the fourth industrial revolution era.
Dr. Bawumia has revealed that since the Ghana Card became a national identification card, there has been a significant increase in tax identification numbers.
He pointed out plans for the launch while speaking at the Academic City University College campus inauguration over the week.
"Next week, God willing, I am going to launch a new application for the Ghana Revenue Authority, which will then allow all these people with tax identification numbers to be able to file their taxes on their mobile phones, pay the tax, and get tax clearance certificate automatically generated for everybody", said the Vice President.
"People just find it difficult to file taxes, but now we are going to make it very easy, a very nice mobile app, and it is designed so that it can be accessible to the not-so-literate, to everyone basically," he added.
The Vice-President noted that there had been a surge in tax identification numbers since the Ghana card was made a national identification card.
This story is still in development, and we will update as soon as more information comes out.
