Angelina Ampofo Asomaning, a Ghanaian self-taught traditional painter has revealed that she would be donating the proceeds of her upcoming exhibition to underprivileged women and children.

She made this revelation in an exclusive interview with the Digital Times in the confines of her home cum studio located in the Greater Accra region.

Miss Ampofo Asomaning stated that she is currently working on producing a sufficient number of paintings that would be used to organize the exhibition in November 2020.

“Because I draw most of my inspiration from women and children, I have planned to have a lot of paintings, then whenever I have an exhibition a percentage of the proceeds go to women in children in deprived areas”, she explained.

She also added that she has always wanted to exhibit her work even when she had produced just a single painting. Alternatively, exhibiting her work will enable her to achieve her goal of assisting women and children.

Speaking on her occupation as a female artist in a male-dominated industry, she stated that she always feels encouraged to do more in spite of the challenges associated with being a female artist in Ghana.

Angelina Ampofo Asomaning is a trained accountant turned traditional painter. She started off by making pencil portraits while in school, before transitioning to learning and practising traditional painting with acrylic and oil paints in just six months.
