Richard Holdbrook, a Technical Associate at Ghana tech lab has designed a humanoid.

In an exclusive interview with www.digitaltimes.africa, he disclosed that a humanoid prototype is a robot with its overall appearance designed like that of a human body.

They are constructed in such a way that they mimic the human body. They use actuators that perform like muscles and joints, though with a different structure, he explained.

Mr. Holdbrook stated that “ the difference between this humanoid and other robots is that the humanoid is a robot, which has the characteristics of a human. Whereas the robot is a machine built to carry out complex tasks”.

He further added that some robots called the autonomous robots are already programmed with specific instructions.

Explaining how they function, he said that they operate without any human aide. “These are robots serving in most hospitality industries in the developed countries,” he added.

Though not fully assembled the humanoid is still in progress as the legs and head are yet to be built, he revealed.

He added that the humanoid was built with a servo motor forming its joints and head. The rest of its parts were 3D modeled using plastic filaments.

However, the prototype responds when codes and hex numbers on the remote are controlled.

As the robot undergoes more studying, an AI machine would be designed to serve as a brain to the robot.

Ghanaians should anticipate this creative design as it helps humans with daily activities. In some time to come, Ghana would be living in a world dominated by robots.
