Huawei Recognizes And Celebrates 4 African Startups In The HMS 2021 App Innovation Competition

Four African applications have been recognized and celebrated during the Huawei HMS 2021 app innovation competition held at the Huawei Developer Conference 2021.
Huawei HMS App Innovation Contest aims to inspire talented developers across the globe to create seamless, smart, and innovative digital experiences and explore the future of digital intelligence. The competition highlights pioneering HMS open capabilities and gives app developers the tools to build tomorrow's all-connected world.
The 2021 edition of the Huawei HMS App Innovation Contest (Apps UP) was launched in June and lasted more than 100 days. Submissions came in from all regions, including China, Asia-Pacific, Europe, the Middle East, Africa, and Latin America. The competition’s total compensation summed up to $1 million, with a reward of $200,000 in cash prizes for each participating region.
Coresthetics won one of the awards for the best apps in the Middle East and Africa region, taking $15,000 in cash prizes. The Outstanding Student Award went to UniAPS with a prize of $ 5,000. Droppa and Secura won Honorable Mention Awards, where each received $ 3,000 in cash prizes.
The other winners are in the Best game award and Social impact app price categories. Real Car Race Game 3D, Scary Teacher 3D, and LittleAstro won the Best Game award. Limit, Blind Assistant, and Emergency Buddy won the Best Social Impact App Award category. Each winner received $ 15,000.
More than 2,100 startups participated in the 2021 edition of Apps UP, with individuals and teams from 170 countries. Submissions were evaluated based on innovation, social value, business value, and user experiences.
