
KIC Ghana, Glovo, Open Value Foundation Call For Early-Stage Companies For Its Impact Entrepreneurship Competition

Kosmos Innovation Center Ghana, Glovo, and Open Value Foundation call for entrepreneurs and early-stage companies for its Impact Entrepreneurship Competition. The Impact Entrepreneurship Competition is designed for entrepreneurs and early-stage companies to positively impact Ghana’s economic, social, and/or environmental sectors, contributing to sustainable development in the region.
The impact sector has grown in Ghana recently; gathering entrepreneurs, companies, investors, donors, and entrepreneur support organizations believing private capital and inclusive entrepreneurship is crucial to solving complex social or environmental issues.
The competition seeks to recognize and support innovative and successful businesses making a positive impact on society in Ghana, strengthening the impact ecosystem in the country, and contributing to bridging the gap between impact and profit. The Impact Entrepreneurship Competition is supported by a group of entrepreneurs, investors, donors, institutions, and entrepreneur support organizations.

Prizes
Over $20,000 in cash prizes and more than $5,000 of in-kind prizes during the competition:
The winner will receive a grant of 15,000.00USD powered by the Open Value Foundation.

An extraordinary $10,000 will be awarded by Fundación Anesvad to a company working to improve the health and wellbeing of others, including businesses tackling environmental issues impacting people’s health.
Additionally, based on the jury’s criteria, any of the live-pitch participants will have the opportunity to receive:
- A package of support including mentoring, investor-readiness
- advice, networks, and introductions to other sources of funding
- Opportunities to access products and/or services donated by partners and collaborators
Key dates
- September 16th, 2022: Applications open
- October 10th, 2022: Applications close
- October 20th, 2022: Finalists selected and invited to pitch in front of a jury
- November 4th, 2022: Pitch Competition and Award Ceremony at a physical event in Accra
Eligibility criteria
Any for-profit company registered in the African continent that has:
- a clear for-profit business model with potential for scale
- between 3 and 5 years of operations
- the ability to demonstrate positive social impact in Ghana (on rural, low-income, or disadvantaged communities)
- not raised more than USD500,000 in debt, grant, equity, or other sorts of funding.
