Nigerian Tech Camp Driving Innovation And Ideas In The Education Of Kids

Innovation in education encourages students and teachers to research, explore, and use all the tools to uncover something new. Innovation involves a different way of looking at problems and solving them. It also improves education because it compels students to use a higher level of thinking to solve complex problems.

This is what Nigeria’s Create and Play Tech Camp is doing for kids and teens between the ages of 4-16 this Easter.

Dubbed “Driving Innovation and Ideas”, the tech camp allows students to learn the basics of programming through its innovative, hands-on projects and challenges designed to propel kids into tech-readiness entrepreneurs by incorporating movement, confidence-building curricula that capture kids' imaginations, keep them physically fit and motivate them to succeed.

Students gain an edge in STEM while learning to create and program (code) games, apps, websites, and more. The tech camp believes that by giving students the resources needed for success, they will become leaders of the high-tech workforce.

The three-week-long camping (6th-23rd April) will feature both online and offline courses, such as Scratch Programming (Age 4-10), Introduction to Computer Science (Age 4-10), App development (Age9+), Game Design (Age9+) for the online course, and Scratch Programming/Typing skills, Introduction to Computer Science, Introduction to the Internet of Things, Game Design, etc, for the offline courses.

We are looking at encouraging physical fitness through our special exergaming activities, encouraging creativity, building teamwork and collaboration skills, improving digital literacy and computing skills, creating an exciting and fun educational environment and, Instilling problem-solving & logical thinking” founder, Chinenye Udeh told Digital Times Africa

Throughout the week, they will work on projects; meet professionals from the technology industry who can speak with students about education, computer science, technology, and more. At the end of the week, an “Online Demo Day” to showcase projects for parents and friends to view will be hosted by the organizers.
