Twitter Partners Hacklab Foundation As Part of Growth Strategy To Set Up HQ In Ghana

Twitter has partnered with Hacklab Foundation as part of the company's growth strategy to set up its headquarters in Ghana.

Twitter in a press release stated that its mission is to serve the public conversation, and it is essential, for the world and for the company, to increase the number of people who feel comfortable participating in it. “To do this, we need to make it easier for everyone to join in and provide more relevant experiences for people across the world,” Twitter said.

As part of the microblogging company’s long-term commitment to the region, Twitter will continue to explore compelling ways they can use to strengthen their communities through employee engagement, platform activation, and corporate giving.

In an interview, the founder of the Hacklab Foundation Foster Awintiti Akugri said, “Twitter’s coming to Africa and setting up its HQ in Ghana is very timely and a big win for Ghana.”

“Home of the AfCFTA secretariat, Google’s AI Center, and now HQ for Twitter. We are very thankful and excited to be part of this history and I look forward to this relationship between Hacklab and Twitter unfold”

On its part, Hacklab Foundation will stand in the gap between the industry and academia, preparing the youth for jobs.

“Twitter is a technology company championing free and accurate information sharing. Organizations of such archetypes are powered by the communities they build and the Hacklab Foundation boasts of a community of 10,214 members. The majority of whom are critical to building a vibrant community. We hope to work closely to innovate as much as possible while using tech to do good” Foster said in an interview with Digital Times Africa.

Recently the foundation hosted an AI-focused virtual event that featured over 800 participants and 50 coaches. Zetta, a health-tech startup aiming to detect early autism in kids emerged as winners.
