Oppo has improved its phone battery, in that a phone charges fully under 15 minutes. Even more impressively it charges from 0-50 percent in just five minutes and from 0-80 in ten minutes.

Last year, Oppo released a smartphone with 65W charging that can be fully charged in under 30 minutes.

This year the company said it would launch a 125W charging system on July 15, and shared a short teaser on Twitter.

No further details have been shared, but Oppo isn't the only company working on super-fast charging.

China's iQOO (a sub-brand of smartphone maker Vivo) has also announced a new 120W-charging tech that can fully charge a phone with a 4,000mAh battery in 15 minutes.

IQOO also went a step further than Oppo, by posting a demonstration of the technology on China's Weibo social network.

However, the demos have been seen before, but Android Authority says that iQOO has confirmed this technology and it is ready for mass production, with more details coming next month.

No word on whether fast-charging leads to faster battery degradation or overheating, but we have not heard of any widespread issues with Oppo or iQOO's previous smartphones.
