WhatsApp Voice Note Status Update Rolls Out For Android And iOS Users
Feb. 23, 2023, 7:31 p.m.
WhatsApp has officially rolled out the WhatsApp voice status update function after beta testing it last month. Some users now have access to the new feature which enables them to record and share voice messages of up to 30 seconds as status updates.
Users will get the option to record voice notes by tapping the microphone icon on the status screen. It provides a more personal touch to status updates and works as a convenient option for those who prefer not to type or use graphics.
Voice status comes months after WhatsApp saw significant traction in voice messages on its platform. The Meta-owned messaging app in March said that its users were sending an average of 7 billion voice messages daily.
The new function is presently accessible with the most recent WhatsApp beta for Android 2.23.2.8 update and iOS 23.2.0.70, according to a report by WaBetaInfo
End-to-end encryption will be used for voice notes shared as status updates. WhatsApp voice status updates posted via status also vanish after 24 hours, just like pictures and videos do. After posting WhatsApp voice status updates as status updates, users will also have the option of deleting them for everyone.
